Manifesto
The Hands Off MY Net! campaign recognizes a disturbing trend that threatens our fundamental freedoms: Government-imposed filtering of the Internet to accomplish censorship on a massive scale.
On December 10, 1948, the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Article 19 reads:
Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without inter-ference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.
Allowing Governments and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to filter Internet access facilitates censorship on an unprecedented scale and threatens this fundamental human right.
Our goals are:
- To educate lawmakers, businesses and individuals worldwide about this critical issue; and,
- To urge governments to defend and entrench their citizens’ right to unfiltered and uncensored Internet access.
YOU can help us achieve our goals!
