ISP letter
The following is suggested wording for a letter you may wish to send to your Internet service provider (ISP) in support of the Hands Off MY Net campaign. Replace the wording in square [ ] brackets with information appropriate to your ISP.
Note: If your ISP already imposes mandatory filtering of any kind on your Internet access, you may wish to change the wording in the first paragraph from: “…not to consider filtering or censoring…” to:” “…to stop filtering or censoring…”

Dear [President of the company]:
As a customer of [ISP company name], I urge you strongly not to consider filtering or censoring the Internet content made available to me via my service subscription.
I believe that allowing Governments and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to filter Internet access facilitates censorship on an unprecedented scale and threatens the fundamental human right to freedom of opinion and expression as declared under Article 19 of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
I believe that those who ultimately pay for the Internet – the subscribers –have a right and an obligation to decide, for themselves and for those who use the Internet access they pay for, what information and services will be available in the homes, businesses and institutional environments for which they are responsible.
I have resolved to obtain Internet access and associated services only from service providers who do not filter or censor my access in any way.
Thank you for your attention to this request.
